College of Law Dean
Welcome to the School of Law at Dire Dawa University. We are pleased to welcome you to our website and invite you to learn more about our dynamic academic community. Since its establishment in 2009, the School of Law has earned a strong national reputation for academic excellence, rigorous standards, and an unwavering commitment to professionalism.
Our flagship program, the undergraduate LL.B. in Law, is designed to equip students with the knowledge, practical skills, and ethical foundation required to succeed in today’s dynamic legal environment. We take pride in the quality of education we provide, as well as in our impactful legal aid services, which support vulnerable members of society, including women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
At the heart of the School of Law is a dedicated academic community that is deeply committed to student success and well-being. Our faculty members are accomplished scholars, active researchers, and experienced practitioners who bring real-world legal expertise into the classroom. They are engaged in research that addresses pressing legal and societal issues, contributing to the development of law and policy at both national and international levels.
Our students benefit from an environment that emphasizes intellectual development, practical experience, and research engagement. Through initiatives such as our Free Legal Aid services, moot court competitions, and student research activities, students gain hands-on experience while making valuable contributions to the community. Their achievements are reflected in consistently strong performance on national law exit examinations and notable success in national moot court competitions, including first-place finishes in the 6th and 8th National Moot Court Competitions and a third-place finish in the 7th competition.
Although relatively young, the School of Law has rapidly emerged as a center of excellence in legal education and research. We take great pride in the accomplishments of our graduates, who continue to make meaningful contributions to the legal profession in Ethiopia and beyond. Our alumni are recognized for their competence, integrity, leadership, and commitment to advancing justice.
The School is also preparing to launch graduate programs in the near future, further strengthening its teaching and research mission.
We warmly invite you to join our academic community and be part of our mission to advance legal education, research, and community service.
