Sports Science also sports
and exercise science is a discipline that studies how the healthy human
body works during exercise, and how sport and physical activity promote health
and performance from cellular to whole body perspectives. The study of sports
science traditionally incorporates areas of Physiology (Exercise Physiology),
Psychology (Sport Psychology), Anatomy, Bio-mechanics, Bio-chemistry and
Bio-kinetics.
Sport Science
department is one of the seven departments which are recently found in DDU,
College of Natural and Computational Sciences, which was established in
2007/2000 E.C. Earlier (since establishment) it was known as Department of
Physical Education and Sport (from 2006/2000 E.C -2009/2002 E.C) under Faculty
of Natural Science and Mathematics.
Later
in 2009/2002 E.C it has been known as Department of Sport Science. The
government under the supervision of Ministry of Education (MOE) in 2009/2002
E.C gave the name for the seek of educational coverage and expansion of science
as applied science and they also changed the name of the Faculty as College of
Natural Science and Mathematics. Hence then, Sport Science and Biology jointly
are under Faculty of Life Sciences having separate department heads since
2013/2005 E.C.
Since then, it
has provided significant contributions to the University, Community, and the
nation through providing research and community services, giving its prominence
emphasis to the teaching and learning process and has been training over 800
students since 2021.
