Sisay (Phd)

The College of Business and Economics was established as one of the three faculties since the establishment of Dire Dawa University in 2007. According to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, in the current 2020/21 academic year, differentiate Public Universities into four categories. In its differentiation, our university is categorized under Applied Universities by having a focus area of business and economics and technology. In order to achieve this mission, our country is working to develop a competent and educated workforce by maintaining the quality of education and teaching in order to excel in economic, political and social affairs. Since its establishment the college produced qualified graduates to support the development agenda of the country.

Currently college of Business and Economics has Eight regular, five continues and distance education as well as Two summer undergraduate programs. Besides, the college had started six Master’s Degree Programs in Ten specialization; Development Economics, Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Management and Policy [MPMP] with specializations in Development management, Public Policy and Governance, Accounting & Finance, Logistics and Supply chain management and Marketing management. The Undergraduate programs of the college are;

    4.         Land and Real Property Valuation
    5.           Logistics and supply chain Management
    6.          Management
    7.         Marketing Management
    8. Public Administration and Development Management 

    Over the course of the past fourteen years, the college’s staff’s professional development has increased dramatically. The staff size of the college increased from 22 Graduate Assistant I in 2007 to 127 active staffs in 2020/21 with academic rank of PhD, Assistant professors, Lecturers and graduate assistance.

     

    In Addition to this the college contribute a lot in Research and community service activities which assists the community as the whole. The number of staff engaged in research activities is growing from time to time. In addition to this the college is undertaking joint research in collaboration with different organization. On the other hand, various trainings which of their main focus on Leadership, Financial Management, Entrepreneurship, Result Based Project Management, International Financial Reporting Standards, Peachtree Accounting, Customer Service, Record Management, Logistics, Secretarial Science and office Management, were given for different stakeholders.

    Further more,, the college has potential and commitment to support the development agenda of the administration in particular and the country in general with its young, energetic, Professional staff members via providing various professional assistances, short term trainings, and consultancy and conducting problem solving research activities Some of the potential areas for partnership and collaboration are presented as follows:
