The Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics is designed to
introduce students to fundamental micro and macro-economic theories, to enable
them critically think and apply data analysis techniques for the study of
contemporary economic problems. The curriculum is designed to familiarize
students to various economic choices society faces and acquaint them with
skills to exercise judgment in evaluating public policy. The program is
designed to prepare students for careers in both private and public enterprises
and pursue graduate studies in the field.
The Department has currently around 180 students in the regular
and 120 in the extension program in the undergraduate program. In addition to
undergraduate program, the department offer a postgraduate program containing 7
regular and 72 extension students in two programs (MSC in Natural &
Environmental Economics and MSC in Development Economics)
