College of Medicine and Health Science


College of Medicine and Health Sciences was established in 2004E.C and is one of the thirteen (13) Medical Schools established in the country to teach the New Innovative Medical Education Curriculum (NIMEI). When the college was established, it had two (2) Ethiopian General Practitioners, One (1) Health Officer, and Two (2) Assistant Professors from the Philippines. After the extreme demand for Midwifery and Anesthesia the school has received 31 and 50 students respectively in 2006 E.C.  

The college has launched three undergraduate programs in the field of Nursing, Medical Laboratory Sciences and Psychiatry Nursing and Two postgraduate programs in General Public Health and Public Health Nutrition in 2011E.C. The college is also transitioning from its previous NIMEI medical program to Generic Medicine, enrolling 25 students in 2013 E.C and 50 students in 2014E.C from regular freshman students. Ten years after the establishment of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS), the college currently has organized in to One School and Six Departments: Medicine (School of), Anesthesia, Medical Laboratory Science, Midwifery, Nursing, Psychiatry Nursing, & Public Health. enrolling 274 female and 318 male students with a total of 592 students in Undergraduate (Includes Post Basic Midwifery and Family Health) and Post-graduate program (Regular, Weekend and Summer).
