ground of the Department
The Department of Public Health
was initially established in 2011 under the College of Medicine and Health
Science, Dire Dawa University. It started public health (MPH) training Program”
in collaboration with Haramaya University in 2011. Soon after starting Public
Health/MPH Training, Family health program (Post basic) was launched in
October, 2012 in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) and
Dire Dawa Health Bureau. Thereafter, enrollment of MPH/Public Health students
started since 2011 which still continues annually. The Department of Public
Health (DPH) is staffed with 24 academic staff consisting Three (3) unit under
its jurisdiction.

of Health system (GPH)
Currently, the DPH is running one
Undergraduate Programs (UG): BSc in Family Health (post basic) and two (2) PG
fields in Regular, Weekend and Summer program. The tracks include: General MPH
and PH in nutrition
In line with the
University’s vision and the Growth and Transformation plan (GTP), DPH is progressively working in expanding the programs of undergraduate
(UG) and post graduate (PG) studies.
