The Ethiopian-Djibouti Females at Makerspace (EtD-FaM) Project International Workshop
The Ethiopian-Djibouti Females at Makerspace project international workshop conducted in Samara University. The project whose primary focus is empowering females students, researchers and SME leaders is run by a consortium of nine universities from Ethiopia, Djibouti, Germany, Italy and Austria and coordinated by Dire Dawa University.
Openinng remarks were done by Dr. Eba Mijena from the Ministry of Education, Dr. Mohammed Usman, President of Samara University, Delegate of Dr. Ubah Adem, President of Dire Dawa University and Dr. Fekadu Mitiku, President of Arsi University.
The international conference of the project with the motto “Empowering Hands, Empowering Minds” featured a series of insightful presetnations from various guests and a panel discussion on the importance of makerspace in realizing the universities transition to University of Applied Sciences and its contribution to enhance the ongoing university industry linkage.
International Delegates from project partners universities Prof. Dr.-Ing Tomas Benz, Workpackage Leader in the EtD-FaM project and Director of International Relations at Heilbronn University, Dr. Margareth Gfrerer, Education Scientist and External Evaluator for the EtD-FaM Project, Dr. Marwa Ben Ali, Senior Expert in the EtD-FaM Project from Free University of Bolzano, and Ms. Hannelore Schwabl, BITZ Fablab Manager at Free University of Bolzano were present.
It is set to continue today with presentations of various research papers and engaging discussion among the participants.
