As continuing and distance education directorate director, it is my pleasure to say you welcome to visit our website.

The continuing and distance education directorate is established by Dire Dawa University since 2009 with the aim of producing well-qualified, skilled, knowledgeable and competent graduates by providing quality education for all students via weekend, evening and summer programs. From its establishment to today, the directorate is successfully handling and leading both academic and non-academic matters, and graduates more than 20,000 undergraduates in different fields of study.

Although, now days, the directorate is contributing a lot on the expansions of education by providing full scholarship for university administration staff members, academic staffs family members and the local community, i.e. who are not allowed the chance of entering higher education institutions because of different reasons in each year.

Noticeably, in 2020, the Ethiopian Ministry of Science and Higher Education was differentiated the public universities into four categories. Accordingly, our university is categorized as applied university. In line with this, the continuing and distance education directorate is working hard to become the first choice and top ten east African applied university in 2030.
