A training program aimed at empowering and
inspiring first-year female students was successfully conducted at Dire Dawa
University. The event brought together a group of motivated female students
eager to embark on their academic journey.
Dr. Ubah Adem, President of DDU, has made a
keynot speech during the training. The president encouraged the students to
take full advantage of the educational opportunities available to them and to
never underestimate their potential. “The power to succeed lies within each of
you. What you achieve here, at this university, will not just shape your
future; it will inspire others, especially those who look up to you as role
models.”
The president also spoke about the importance
of supporting one another. “Together, you are stronger. You are not alone in
this journey. Reach out to your peers, teachers, and mentors. Build a network
of encouragement and support that will help you navigate the ups and downs of
university life.”
The guest of the day, Zebiba Musema, a
renowned advocate for women’s education and coordinator of American corner in
Dire Dawa, highlighted the importance of perseverance, resilience, and the
pursuit of excellence in all areas of life. She emphasized the role of
education in breaking barriers and creating opportunities for women in Ethiopia
and beyond.
In addition to inspirational speeches, female
students with high grade point are awarded by the president of the DDU, Dr.
Ubah Adem and the guest of the day, Zebiba Musema.
This event is part of Dire Dawa University’s
ongoing efforts to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for
female students, encouraging them to pursue their dreams and aspirations
without limitations. The training is organized by the university’s Academic
Program Directorate and women and social affairs office.
