Annual National Research Conference Held at Dire Dawa University

College of Social Science and Humanities held the 2nd college level and 7th University level annual national research conference under the grand theme of “Applied research for socio-cultural transformation”.

On the occasion Asst/Prof. Yitagesu Sintahehu, Research and Community Service Directorate Director, representing the Research and Community Service Vice President, delivered a welcoming speech. In addition, Dr. Abreham Ewnetu, Administration and Students Service Vice President made an opening speech on behalf of the University President. 

Moreover, a key note speech was delivered by the distinguished Professor Abiy Yigzaw regarding the necessity of applied social researches for the holistic transformation of the country. The Professor also contended that researches on indigenous knowledge need to be imperative for sustainable socio-cultural transformations. 

The conference was carried out for two days in which researchers and scholars from DDU and other universities and institutions presented their research findings. It is anticipated that more than 135 participants attended the conference and it played a vital role to share experience. The conference, moreover, is expected to boost the research culture of the staff.
