Dire Dawa University Signs Strategic Partnership Agreements (MoUs) with Jiangnan University and Wuxi Group
Dire Dawa University (DDU) has officially
entered into a strategic partnership through the signing of two Memoranda of
Understanding (MoUs) with China’s Jiangnan University and Wuxi Group. The
agreements, signed today, mark a major milestone in strengthening international
collaboration in higher education, research, and resource exchange.
Two distinct agreements were signed during
the event.
The first MoU, between Dire Dawa University
and Jiangnan University, aims to enhance academic cooperation, promote program
and faculty exchanges, and facilitate joint research projects in key areas such
as textile engineering, food technology, and sustainable industrial practices.
The second MoU is a tripartite agreement
among Dire Dawa University, Jiangnan University, and Wuxi Group. This agreement
focuses on capacity building through short- and long-term training programs, as
well as internship and externship opportunities. The tripartite partnership
seeks to position Dire Dawa University as a hub for industry–university collaboration
in the region and serve as a gateway for Chinese institutions to expand
partnerships across Africa.
Sharing her perspective on the agreements,
Dr. Ubah Adem, President of Dire Dawa University, emphasized that the
partnership goes beyond symbolic cooperation.
“This partnership is not just a gesture of
goodwill, it represents a practical framework for academic–industrial
collaboration,” Dr. Ubah said. “Together, we will establish a joint training
and research center that will enhance capacity in textile technology,
industrial innovation, and applied science.”
The signing of these MoUs signifies a
forward-looking commitment to advancing education, research, and innovation
through cross-border collaboration and shared expertise.
