''I couldn’t have asked for a better way to conclude my trip to the region than with a visit to Dire Dawa University. I met with President Dr. Ubah Adem to discuss how the university is driving economic and social development in the city and explored ways to strengthen U.S.-Ethiopia higher education partnerships. I also had the privilege of engaging with alumni from U.S. Embassy exchange programs like the Mandela Washington Fellowship and the International Visitor Leadership Program. Their dedication to tackling local challenges and creating positive change is inspiring. Finally, I spoke with local journalists about the U.S. Embassy’s support for health, trade, investment, and education initiatives in the region. Thank you to regional media outlets and official social media accounts for helping share these important stories. Dire Dawa was the perfect final stop on this journey.
