The US Embassy team delivered Media Literacy Training to Journalism students

The U.S. Embassy media team, led by Spokesperson Marjon Kamrani, conducted an in-depth media literacy training for students of Journalism and Communication at Dire Dawa University, with a particular focus on prospective graduates preparing to enter the media sector.

The training centered on enhancing students’ understanding of digital media, global information disorder and the evolving media environment within the Ethiopian context.

Key topics included misinformation and disinformation, the impact of fake news on society and practical methods for identifying, tracing, and preventing the spread of false information. To strengthen hands-on skills, students were also introduced to the CAT Park application, including a live demonstration on how digital tools can support fact-checking and media verification.
